The Supreme court’s notice has also been issued to two other accused who were acquitted by the trial court.

The apex court bench, headed by Justice Aftab Alam, issued the notice after Additional Soliciter General Harin Rawal said the Delhi High Court had not considered various evidences, including the details of the calls made to R.K. Sharma by other accused soon after the murder.

The Delhi government has challenged the high court’s Oct 12, 2011, verdict acquitting R.K. Sharma and two others, who were awarded life imprisonment by the trial court for Shivani’s murder.

Shivani Bhatnagar was murdered on Jan 23, 1999, by the contract killers at the behest of Sharma, who was alleged to be close to Shivani during his tenure in the Prime Minister Officer (PMO).
