BSF personnel opened fire when they spotted the three smugglers, but they succeeded in returning to Pakistani territory.

According to the BSF officer, the incident took place near BSF’s Hindumal outpost around 1.30 a.m. Friday.

“Three people were spotted throwing something into the Indian territory by the BSF jawans. When inspected, they were found to be heroine packets,” said the officer.

The packets contained 6 kg of pure heroin worth about Rs.30 million in the international market.

The officer added that identity of the smugglers could not be ascertained. “It is being investigated further.”

Sources said that when the smugglers were retreating towards Pakistan, BSF troopers warned them to stop and when they did not pay heed, opened fire. However, the three men escaped.
