New Delhi : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anurag Thakur Tuesday said the results in Uttar Pradesh were “not encouraging”. But he refused to blame Uma Bharti who was the party incharge for the state elections.
“We were expecting much more seats and the results have not been encouraging in Uttar Pradesh,” Thakur told NDTV news channel after the early morning surge for the BJP slowed down considerably by Tuesday afternoon.
However, he refused to blame Uma Bharti, the BJP’s star campaigner who migrated from neighbouring Madhya Pradesh to make Uttar Pradesh her political abode.
“We can’t blame Uma Bharti as there were many more reasons behind it. There can’t be a single reason…We need to introspect,” he said.
Thakur further said the party had “gained in all the other states”.
