Peace Party’s electoral debut in Delhi, to contest MCD polls

New Delhi: Peace Party will make its electoral debut in Delhi by fighting the elections for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). The party will field candidates on all the 268 seats of the MCD which has been divided into three parts. The elections will be held on 25th April.

The announcement in this regard was made by Dr. Ayub Ansari, the party supremo on Monday at the facilitating ceremony of four elected party MLAs here at the Ghalib Academy in Basti Hazrat Nizamuddin.

After the MCD the next target for Peace Party will be the assembly elections in Delhi which are slated to be held next year. Before that the party wants to test its waters on the political landscape of Delhi by fighting the MCD elections.

Addressing the gathering, Ayub highlighted the performance of the party in the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. The party won 4 seats out 203 seats on which it had fielded candidates.

With 1736976 votes Peace party’s vote share in the UP assembly elections was 2.37%. On 3 seats the party candidate remained second, on eight they ranked third, on 25 seats they came fourth and on 67 seats they ended up on fifth position.

Dr. Ayub won the Khalilabad assembly seats, Kamal Yusuf Malik won from Dumariyaganj, Akhilesh Singh from Rai Bareli and Anisur Rahman Saifi won from Kaanth assembly constituency.

Talking about the MCD elections, Ayub claimed that there is an unexpected enthusiasm among the people in Delhi for Peace party’s electoral debut. He also claimed that there is a long queue of good and honest candidates who want to fight the elections on the party’s ticket.

Parveen Ayyub Idris has been appointed as the election-in-charge for MCD elections, along with Shamim Ansari and Maqsood Ali Mansoori.
