Shillong : Meghalaya Wednesday lowered the value added tax (VAT) on petrol, making the fuel cheaper by around Rs.1.05 a litre. The new price will come into effect from Friday.
At present, petrol costs over Rs.72 a litre and its revised cost will be between Rs.71.37-71.50 a litre.
“The cabinet has decided to exempt of value added tax on petrol to ease the additional burden faced by the common man following the recent hike,” Chief Minister Mukul Sangma told reporters.
