Kozhikode: About three thousand minority unaided schools that have applied for affiliation from the Malabar region and have fulfilled all the necessary criterions are endlessly waiting for a positive nod from the govt to get them affiliated.
The body of the minority school managements in Kerala – Minority Educational Union- chaired by Panakkad Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal have decided to launch widespread protests and conventions all through out Malabar against the lapse from the part of the govt as there is not even a hint of progress on the particular issue even after the UDF govt in which Muslim League [IUML] is handling the Educational Ministry came to power.
The body was earlier formed in Malabar during the LDF regime with Sadiq Ali Thangal as the chairman and the motto was to resist the then Left Govt’s disparities against affiliation of minority institutions.
The organisation questions the Govt logic of still not affiliating those unaided schools which have fulfilled all the necessary criterions. The organisation so has decided to initiate widespread protests all across Malabar by promoting participation from all minority institutions.
The body has taken a serious note of the govt stand against affiliation of minority institutions before the Supreme Court and has decided to challenge the Educational Ministers decision to prevent new admissions to class one, of these minority owned unaided institutions next academic year onwards.
The body believes that the govt is reluctant to affiliate these institutions only because they fear some communal elements within the state, opposed to the very idea of emancipating the minority community. The Union has expressed their concern on this regard as they feel it is the minority community’s constitutionally privileged right and not somebody else’s benevolence.
The organisation expressed grave concern over the fact that, it is just because of this lack of affiliation; these institutions are not able to facilitate minority scholarships and central govt aids to its students.
The organisation has decided to conduct conventions in all districts of Malabar. The conventions are expected to be held on 12th September at Thrissur, 14th at Kozhikode and on 19th at Kannur. On 14th the Muslim School Management representatives will be meeting at Kozhikode prior to the Convention in order to decide on the future protests and action plans.
