This directive from the Delhi chief minister went to party colleagues at a meeting at her residence here ahead of the rally, which will be attended by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

Assembly elections in Delhi are due late 2013. The rally may be seen as the Congress party’s bid to boost the morale of its cadre ahead of elections.

Terming the party programme a ‘maha’ (great) rally, Dikshit asked her party workers to mobilise the crowds at the national capital’s key site for political events.

The party expects to mobilise around 1,00,000 people Nov 4.

“Around 2,000 buses would be hired to ferry supporters to the gathering. Around 5,000 hoardings will be put up across the city. The work of hiring buses and putting up hoardings will begin soon,” the chief minister’s parliamentary secretary Mukesh Sharma told IANS.

At Thursday’s meeting, Dikshit said the rally would be a historic one, and appealed to party leaders to drown differences and work together for its success, Sharma said.
