According to the tribunal, Tolimir,64, was convicted for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes committed in 1995 after the fall of the UN protected Bosnian Muslim enclaves of Srebrenica and Zepa.

He was assistant commander and chief of intelligence and security of the Bosnian Serb Army during the Bosnian war and referred by witnesses as commander Ratko Mladic’ “right-hand man and eyes and ears”.

In July 1995, the UN enclave of Srebrenica fell into the hands of Mladic and his troops. After the fall over 7,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys were reportedly killed.

Tolimir was indicted in 2005 and arrested in May 2007. His trial started on Feb. 26, 2010.
