New Delhi: The Delhi High Court Friday issued notice to the city government and police on the plea of journalists seeking access to the proceedings of the Dec 16 gang-rape trial.
Justice Rajiv Shakdher sought response from the government and police and said the court would “examine balancing the right of media and how a trial has to be conducted in rape case”.
Legal journalists filed the petition saying their “fundamental right of freedom of speech and expression” is being violated. “My right as a responsible media reporter is violated,” said the plea.
The journalists moved the court saying the trial court issued a gag order restraining media from attending and publishing the news related to the gang rape case.
The high court posted the matter for Feb 13 hearing.
