“Sangma is leaving for New Delhi to get the list of the council of ministers approved by the Congress high command and madam (Sonia Gandhi),” a senior Congress leader told IANS requesting anonymity.

Sangma, who was Friday elected as the leader of the Congress legislature party, later met Governor R.S. Mooshahary and staked claim to form the new government.

The Congress emerged the largest party with 29 seats in the 60-member house, just short of a majority. However it has secured support from other parties.

Sangma also handed over to the governor a letter of unconditional support of the two Nationalist Congress Party legislators and eight Independent legislators to the government.

He is likely to be sworn-in March 5 for his second stint.
