Bangalore : Indian IT bellwether Infosys Ltd has bagged a five-year contract from German auto major BMW group to provide a range of IT services, including infrastructure management, content management and business intelligence systems.
“The five-year engagement will cover services such as maintenance and operations of BMW’s web infrastructure, SAP Basis operations and its internal IT system,” the global software firm said in a statement from Frankfurt Thursday.
The strategic partnership with the global automotive manufacturer also extends Infosys’ footprint in the German market.
“We will leverage our domain expertise in infrastructure management services to help BMW benefit from its technology estate and drive its investments for IT transformation and innovation programmes,” the statement noted.
To support the engagement, Infosys is opening a new delivery centre, which will be an integral part of its global service delivery team.
“Infrastructure management is no longer about short-term efficiency and productivity gains. It requires a partner that can help build an IT organisation that is future relevant,” Infosys’ global head for manufacturing & engineering services Ashok Vemuri said in the statement.
The Munich centre will help the company to expand its presence in a key growth market.
