Amir Khusro remembered at AMU

Aligarh: Bazm-e-Aftab, a student body of literary and cultural activities of Aftab Hall, Aligarh Muslim University organized a literary evening “Adab Ki Ek Sham, Hazrat Amir Khusro Ke Naam”. Dr. Razi Amrohvi was the Chief guest of the programme. Mr. Shah Alam Amrohwi, an eminent poet inaugurated the poetic evening.

Dr. Zoheb Hasan of Delhi University highlighted the literary and cultural contributions of Amir Khusro. He congratulated the organizers of the event and emphasized the need for conducting such programmes on a regular basis.

Guest of Honour, Dr. Tamkeen Hussain said that the Urdu language and literature and the Aligarh Muslim University shared a glorious past. He said that it was our responsibility to preserve the glory of the language. Special Guest Dr. Rafiuddin said that the language was a symbol of our vernacular teaching.

In his presidential remarks, AMU Students’ Union President, Mr. Shahzad Alam said that the tradition of Mushaira held a high place in Urdu poetry and Urdu language has always been considered a very sweet and acceptable to all. He appealed to the Vice Chancellor to take measures for the promotion of this language in the University. He also emphasized the need to introduce Urdu in every course at undergraduate level.

Sadat Suhail conducted the Mushaira and Imtiyaz Ahmad proposed a vote of thanks.

Mohd. Nasiruddin “Saifi”, Amir Mahmood “Kamli”, Afzal Sidharthnagri, Hamid Iqbal Kalkatvi and others extended cooperation in making the programme a success.
