Chennai : DMK president M. Karunanidhi Friday reiterated that his party will not provide any external support to the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) central government.
Terming as “mischievous” some news reports that said the party’s ties with the UPA continue, Karunanidhi, in a statement here, said: “Since the developments were not useful for Tamil Eelam, we decided to quit the government as our continuance will be a great injustice to the Tamils.”
He recalled his answer to the media to a specific question that the party will not give any outside support to the central government and DMK is not to blame if communal forces come to power.
He said the party’s stand is that whichever government comes to power at the centre, it has to agree to the demand for an international probe on war crimes against Tamils in Sri Lanka.
