Washington DC: The Association of Indian Muslims of America (AIM), an NGO of Indian Muslims who live in North America has applauded the Rihai Manch for their indefinite protest demanding justice for Khalid Mujahid.
Khalid Mujahid who was falsely accused of terrorism died in police custody earlier this month. Rihai Manch is leading the movement for release of innocent Muslims falsely implicated in terrorism cases. Since the death of Khalid Mujahid they have been holding a definite dharna in Lucknow.
“This terrible murder of an innocent Muslim young man by the police, who claim that he died of natural causes, is a dark stain on the secular and democratic structure of the Indian nation. It is especially atrocious that he was murdered by the police a few days after the U.P. state government announced that it was withdrawing
court cases against Mujahid and a few other innocent Muslim prisoners whom police has arrested under similar false charges,” said AIM press release.
AIM questioned how Khalid Mujahid was killed a few days after UP government announced that it was withdrawing court cases against him. “It makes one wonder how much the U.P. state police is under the control of the U.P. state government, and how the state polce can defy the elected government with impunity in such a brazen manner,” asked the statement released by AIM.
AIM demanded arrest of 42 police officers and their prosecution.
