Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) claims that no courses have been withdrawn from the Polytechnic Bangalore centre, as reported earlier.
TCN had reported several students find themselves in lurch as the autonomous University has withdrawn courses from its Bangalore polytechnic College in Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science, citing non-allotment of AICTE approval to the institute, sealing the future of mostly poor Muslim students.
However, the Assistant Public relations officer of MANUU, Abid Abdul Wasay has sent a mail making “a small clarification” in response to the TCN story. It says, “MANUU is moving fast towards getting AICTE affiliation for Bangalore & Darbhanga Polytechnics as soon as possible. Both these colleges will also be provided all the necessary infrastructure as required by the AICTE. University is pursuing the matter on priority basis & hopes to get the affiliation very soon.”
Besides, Bangalore MANUU offers polytechnic courses in Urdu medium at its headquarter in Hyderabad and Darbhanga. It recently started a satellite campus in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mr Wasay adds, “To facilitate students pursue higher education & to avoid possible difficulties in their way, MANUU started the process to obtain affiliation of these colleges from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). As a result of concerted efforts by the University, Polytechnic College at Hyderabad campus has been given affiliation.”
The Public relations office of the University claimed that the Academic Council has decided to withhold the release of admission notification at Bangalore and Darbhanga temporarily to protect the students from potential difficulties. Admission notification will be issued as soon as affiliation from AICTE is obtained, it added. The statement from the university said, “This decision has been made keeping in view the larger interest of the students & their welfare. Once the AICTE affiliation is obtained, students shall not face any problem in future to get employment.”
Clarifying that those students who were admitted in previous years, will face no difficulties as the Polytechnic classes for II & III year are going on both at Bangalore and Darbhanga College, the University media cell assured that infrastructural and technical requirements of AICTE will be fulfilled and that the admission would be restored soon in these centers as well.
Mr Wassey further added that to substitute the number of seats MANUU Polytechnic at Hyderabad, which is already affiliated with AICTE, will enhance the number of seats in each trade from 40 to 60, thus taking 80 additional students, as per the decision of the Academic Council.
