New Delhi : A special CBI court Tuesday sentenced a former superintendent of police of the probe agency to four years’ jail after convicting him in a bribery case, an official said.
The special judge for Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Saket court also slapped a fine of Rs.5.20 lakh on then superintendent of police Murari Lal.
The agency had registered the case in 1999 under several sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act, against Murari Lal and a then deputy superintendent of police in the agency.
“After thorough investigation, the agency filed the charge sheet against both the officers but the deputy SP died during trial and the proceedings against him were abated,” said an officer.
