New Delhi : The Union cabinet Monday ratified an anti-terror treaty with Cyprus besides approving some changes in an air service agreement with Jordan.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh headed the cabinet meeting, said an official spokesperson.
The ex-post facto approval that the cabinet gave to the anti-terror treaty with Cyprus related to cooperation on combating international terrorism, organised crime and illicit drug trafficking.
The spokesperson said the treaty with Cyprus “would improve the effectiveness of both the countries in the prevention and investigation of various crimes including those related to terrorism and drug trafficking”.
About the changes in its 1989 air service agreement with Jordan, the official spokesperson said these are aimed at spurring greater trade, investment, tourism and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
The air services agreement between India and Jordan was inked Oct 16, 1989, according to the spokesperson.
During the last round of bilateral air services talks with Jordan in mid-January this year, both sides had agreed to modernize their existing air service agreement by changing some of its provisions.
