Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati said here Monday that her party had put up a “fairly good” show in the recently concluded Gujarat assembly elections.
“In Gujarat our party has polled 2.7 percent votes, which is fairly good, considering that we were in the fray on such a large scale for the first time,” she told reporters.
“You must take into account that there is only 7 percent dalit vote in Gujarat and we managed to corner nearly half of it in our first major attempt.”
“What you need to mark is that at least four of our party nominees lost by a very thin margin of a few hundred votes,” she said.
The BSP contested 161 of the total 182 seats in the state assembly.
