Chennai : Midnight masses, visit to churches, exchange of gifts and greetings marked Christmas celebrations in Tamil Nadu Wednesday.
Midnight masses were held at various churches here and across the state.
The Velankanni Church in Nagapattinam district attracted a huge number of faithfuls. The Santhome Church here, which was well decorated, too attracted a large number of people.
Governor K. Rosaiah, Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and DMK president M. Karunanidhi conveyed their greetings to Christians.
Bakeries made brisk business selling cakes and other goodies. Starred hotels and specialty restaurants offered special Christmas dishes.
