New Delhi : Judicial work was paralysed in six district court complexes here Monday after city lawyers went on strike to protest shifting of family courts.
The coordination committee of the district courts had Sunday decided that lawyers will abstain from work Feb 10 “in support of the Shahdara Bar Association against the shifting of family courts outside the court premises”.
The strike paralysed all proceedings in the district courts complexes at Patiala House, Tis Hazari, Rohini, Dwarka, Saket and Karkardooma.
“The family court can be set up in the Karkardooma complex as several rooms are unoccupied,” said committee general secretary Nitin Ahlawat, adding that there was no need for moving family courts to any other premises.
The Shahdara Bar Association had observed strike Thursday and Friday, demanding that the family courts shifted back to the Karkardooma court complex from the new building in Vishwas Nagar in east Delhi.
The strike was continued on Monday too, said Shahdara Bar Association president Arun Sharma.
