New Delhi : The union cabinet Wednesday gave its approval to introduce the School of Planning and Architecture Bill, 2014 in parliament in order to bring all three existing Schools of Planning and Architecture (SPAs) within the ambit of the proposed legislation.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
An official release said that the bill would adhere to government policies on reservation from time to time.
The proposed legislation will also empower these schools to award degrees.
“This would enable the Schools of Planning and Architecture to become centres of excellence like IITs, NITs and help fulfill the need of the country for quality manpower in the field of architecture and planning,” the release added.
