New Delhi : A court here Tuesday convicted Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee President (DSGMC) Manjit Singh G.K., General Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa and seven others for holding a protest against the acquittal of Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in 2013 in a case related to the anti-Sikh riots of 1984 after they pleaded guilty.
The court convicted them under Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) Indian Penal Code after they voluntarily pleaded guilty.
Metropolitan Magistrate Snigdha Sarvaria sentenced Manjit Singh and others to stay till the rising of the court (TRC) and released them after undergoing TRC.
The nine accused told the court that they were protesting for a noble cause and they had no hesitation even in going to jail.
The others convicted are DSGMC Vice President Tanwant Singh, Kuldeep Singh Bhogal, Paramjit Singh Rana, Inderjeet Singh Monty, Jasprit Singh, Swaran Jeet Singh and Sumardeep Singh.
