Aligarh: The environment filled with an enlightening breeze when the nurses of the School of Nursing, JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) took oath at the Lamp Lighting & Oath taking Ceremony of the School.
The occasion also followed a CME on Common Issues in Nursing Practice.

Sabiha Seemi Shah, wife of AMU Vice Chancellor, Rizwana Ali, wife of AMU Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor, Principal and CMS, JN Medical College and Prof Farida Ahmad, Principal, School of Nursing, AMU together lit the lamp as a sign of enlightenment. Dr Hamida Tariq and Prof Haris Manzoor Khan were also present as Guests of Honour on the occasion, a release from the AMU assistant PRO Zeeshan Ahmad said.
Addressing the nursing students, Sabiha Seemi Shah, the chief guest said nursing is a noble profession, which has been filling light in human lives ever since its inception. Rizwana Ali said lamp lighting symbolises transfer of knowledge and skills and signifies the spirit of nursing. “I am filled with benevolence on seeing the hard work of the professional nurses of JNMC as well as the students of the nursing course,” she said.
Prof Tariq Mansoor complimented that the students of the School are performing well and the administration is planning to increase the intake of the course. He informed that the JNMC has recently signed a MoU with the VP Hospital Group, Dubai, which is planning to open a placement centre in the premises of AMU.
Prof Shahjahan Bano, Dean, Faculty of Medicine said that the profession holds importance and suggested the students to step up and signify their importance.
While presenting the Annual Report, Prof Farida Ahmad said the symposiums and seminars on various informative topics are being regularly organized for the benefit of the students as well as the staff. She said that the responsibility of the School does not end at providing education to the students but also equipping them with the practical knowledge of the field. She also administered the oath.

During the ceremony, Darshana Sharma, Aiman Asim and Yooha Nida were presented with the awards for highest marks in the third, second and first years respectively whereas Alia Zulfiqar was awarded for topping the PTS course. Farheen Khan and Human Khanam were honoured for securing the highest attendance.
The programme was conducted by Priyanka Pachauri, Ibtisan Wali and Saman Hashmi whereas the vote of thanks was proposed by Mehwish Masih. The Souvenir of the School was also released on the occasion, the release added.
