Hyderabad : Officials from the US consulate general in Chennai and a delegation from Japan separately visited Andhra Pradesh’s Sri City on Friday.
They visited the industrial city located in Nellore district for a first hand knowledge of the infrastructure and other facilities.
The team of officials from the US consulate included John Fleming, principal commercial officer for South India.
Ravindra Sannareddy, managing director, Sri City, said over nine American companies, including the major brands like PepsiCo, Cadburys, Colgate and Kellogg’s have preferred Sri City for setting up their units.
Fleming said that he was impressed with the world-class industrial infrastructure available at Sri City. He also said that he has no hesitation in recommending Sri City to the investing companies from the US.
Meanwhile, a 50-member government-industry delegation from Japan also visited Sri City.
The delegation, headed by Akio Isomata, minister for economic development,Japan, saw the existing infrastructure, assessed the business potential and explored the possibility of setting up industries.
The delegation included top government officials and senior executives of prominent organisations and companies, such as Fuji Electric Corporation, Hitachi, Japan Research Institute, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), JGC Corporation, JICA, Kajima Corporation, Marubeni, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Nikken Sekkei, Shimizu Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation, The Bank of Tokyo, and Toshiba, Toyota.
Stating that this visit would encourage more Japanese companies to come to Sri City, Sannareddy said Andhra Pradesh and Japan have synergies that can translate into mutually rewarding business associations.
