New Delhi: The Welfare Party of India is launching a nationwide campaign against the anti-people policies of the Modi-led BJP Government.
“The BJP came to power with the promise of growth, development, employment generation, inclusiveness, bringing back black money etc., and with the slogan Sab Ka Saath Sab Ka Vikas. But the NDA government has taken a complete U turn on its poll promises and is enacting and amending laws for the vikas of ‘haves’ and corporate at the expense of common people,” WPI said in a press conference organised at the Press Club here on Saturday.
WPI alleged that the Land Acquisition Act 2013 is being amended to grab farm lands to appease the corporate and MNCs when the suicide rate among the farmers across the country goes up at alarming rate. Similarly labour laws such as Factories Act, Industrial Dispute Act, Apprentice Act etc., are being amended to fulfil the demands of foreign investors at the cost of safety and security of working class.
“Government decision to implement Meenakumari report which suggests foreign mechanised vessels to fish in Indian sea and denying the right to traditional Indian fishermen has sent shock waves among fishing communities across the entire coasts of the country,” WPI said in a statement.
WPI alleged that the government has failed in controlling inflation, but curtailing subsidy on fuel, gas, fertilizer, food etc., to farmers and common man on one side and is providing tax exemptions and reductions, concessions and sops to corporates on the other.
Social service sectors like health and education are struggling due to reduced budget allocation. Prices of life saving drugs have been increased manifold.
To fill government coffers, PSUs including Navratna are being sold; PSUs that give employment to large section of people are closed or handed over to private players in the name of running at loss. No effective measures to make the sick units profitable are made.
“The worst affected is the social structure and non-communal fabric of the nation due to the divisive, communal and sectarian agendas of the saffron party. Communal overtones are reverberated from BJP rostrums from top leaders and ministers, Ghar Wapsi and Love jihad propagandas unveiled by fringe right wing groups, moves are made to remove the words ‘secular and democracy’ from preamble of constitution, saffronisation of education system going on at high velocity, proposals making Gita as national book, attacks on religious places of minorities etc., all these lead to frustration, resentment, fear and insecurity feeling, alienation among the people especially the minorities. The worst affected are the Muslims,” WPI leaders said.
Welfare Party of India during this campaign will try to portray a realistic analysis of the steps, acts and amendments that have agonized a vast section of the society and also will try to unveil the real beneficiaries of the Modi-an acts, whether they are the corporate and MNCs or the countrymen and poor people.
Launching programme of the national campaign will be held at Tiwari Bhavan, Delhi on 3rd May. Leaders from various likeminded political parties, eminent personalities and activists from civil society and human rights groups will participate besides office bearers of Welfare Party.
Various programmes will be held at head quarters/ important places of various states. Street corner meetings, public meetings, Dharnas, protests, human chain, rallies, signature campaigns, distribution of hand bill, brochures, and booklet to make aware of the general public about the consequences of the anti-people policies of the Government.
