After Fandry, the Marathi movie Khwada, released on Oct 22, 2015, does a brilliant job of depicting lower castes’ struggle against feudal upper-caste humiliation on the 70 mm screen. The movie is based on the life of Dhangar community (tribes) of Maharashtra, who lost their land and for turned to livestock business for survival.
This is one of the subjects of life of tribes in Maharashtra which till date has remained untouched by the filmmakers.
