Panaji : Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation move has found support from his Mauritian counterpart, who on Wednesday said it was the right thing for India even if it means “temporary difficulty”.
“I am not an Indian, but what I personally think as a Prime Minister is that Modi has done the right thing. People will have some difficulty which will be temporary, but in the long run it will help the country’s economy,” Mauritian Prime Minister Anerood Jugnauth told the media on the sidelines of a private event organised by a pharmaceutical company in North Goa, located near state capital Panaji.
Jugnauth said Mauritius shares a “very special, extraordinary” relationship with India, one which it does not share with any other country.
“There are lots of investments from India in Mauritius and I pray it continues like this,” he said.
