Islamabad : Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf said Saturday that his government has done everything possible for conducting free, fair and transparent elections Monday though there could be some irregularities in some areas which were beyond his control, Online news agency reported.
While talking to a visiting election monitoring delegation of Centre for Media and Democracy (CMD) at the Presidential Camp Office, Musharraf said that the Election Commission was an impartial institution.
He expressed his inability to check every nook and corner of the country for signs of irregularities and said all political parties were hopeful of the outcome of the elections.
Earlier Saturday while addressing the ground breaking ceremony of the upgradation of the Karakoram highway, Musharraf said he was committed to bringing democracy to the country and whichever party wins with a majority would form the government.
