More than 80 million voters to practice their right

Islamabad : A total of 80.9 million voters will exercise their right of franchise as Pakistan holds parliamentary elections Monday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said.

The Pakistan Army has deployed nearly 81,000 troops near the polling stations to meet any situation and stop terrorist attacks and suicide bombing.

Besides, paramilitary forces and police have been deployed throughout Pakistan to maintain law and order during the grand electoral exercise in which the National Assembly (Lower House of Parliament) and four provincial assemblies will be elected.

Till Sunday, the ECP delivered all polls material like ballot boxes and ballot papers to its officers.

The ECP has set up 64,176 polling stations and appointed 520,000 member polling staff for the purpose. Polling will start at 8 a.m., to continue till 5 p.m., without break.
