Dhaka : Bangladesh’s ailing former prime minister Sheikh Hasina underwent a medical check-up and told doctors she was innocent of corruption charges before she was sent back to jail, media reports said Friday.
This was her first medical check-up since she was detained on July 16 last year.
One of the doctors told The Daily Star newspaper that she spoke of being charged with false accusations in a bid to destroy her politically and exclude her from the next parliamentary polls.
Doctors have asked the 61-year-old Awami League leader not to worry too much and maintain good health.
Hasina suspects “foul play” if treated locally, the newspaper said.
She suffered from high blood pressure during a courtroom trial last month, causing brief suspension of the trial.
