Fallujah (Iraq): At least five people were killed and 10 injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up near a police checkpoint at a popular market in Iraq’s western Anbar province, the police said.
“A suicide bomber wearing an explosive vest blew himself up at a police checkpoint in a crowded popular market in the town of Ameriyyat al-Fallujah, some seven km south of Fallujah City,” a police official said on condition of anonymity.
Iraqi security forces cordoned off the area and imposed curfew in the town, the official added
In Tikrit, the capital city of Salahudin province in northern Iraq, two police personnel were killed when a car bomb went off at the city police headquarters Friday morning.
According to reports, the blast occurred while some policemen were pulling a bullet-riddled car that found in central Tikrit to the headquarters. Four people, including two civilians, were also injured in the blast.
