Haryana gets new chief secretary

Chandigarh : The Haryana government Friday appointed 1973 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Dharam Vir as chief secretary of the state.

He takes over from Promila Issar who retired Friday. She was the second woman to become chief secretary in the state under the present government headed by Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Dharam Vir, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), also holds a master’s degree in business administration from University of Leeds in Britain.

He was till now financial commissioner for revenue.
