Noida : A police officer was shot in Noida on the outskirts of the capital early Tuesday morning.
The shooting incident took place at about 4 a.m. when Sub Inspector Om Prakash was going to the sector 58 police station after completing his shift at a police post.
A group of armed men in a Santro car accosted the police officer and tried to rob him near the sector 62 crossing. The officer was not wearing his uniform at the time of the incident.
Superintendent of Police (City) R.K. Gautam said: “Sub Inspector Om Prakash resisted them and he was shot. The bullet passed through his thigh. Thereafter, the assailants fled from the spot. He called up the police station and then collapsed.”
A police team rushed to the spot and took Om Prakash to a private hospital. Doctors attending on the police officer said his condition was serious because he had lost a lot of blood.
