Four burglars held, articles worth Rs.2.5 mn seized

New Delhi : Four burglars of a gang operating in south Delhi have been arrested and stolen articles like mobile phones, laptops and jewellery worth Rs.2.5 million were recovered from them, the police said Friday.

The gang was operating in posh areas like Greater Kailash, Panchsheel Enclave, C.R. Park and Saket in south Delhi. The four arrested have been identified as Raju Biswas, the gang’s alleged kingpin, Makhan Sikdar, Samul Mandal and Dharmendra.

“The gang came under scanner due to increasing burglaries at night in south Delhi. They were arrested Thursday after a tip-off,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Anil Shukla told IANS.

“Many stolen goods were recovered from their possession. These included seven mobile phones, five still cameras, one video camera, 25 costly wrist watches, two colour televisions, three laptops, jewellery worth Rs.1.5 million, brass antiques pieces, Rs.49,000 cash and foreign currency worth Rs.20,000,” he said.
