Islamabad : Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) President Makhdoom Amin Fahim called on PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari at the latter’s- house Wednesday evening. The one-on-one meeting between the two leaders continued for two hours and they discussed options to diffuse tension created between the party leadership, sources said.
“The meeting was held in cordial atmosphere and distance between the two leaders have reduced,” sources added. “However, the confusions still persist and another meeting would be held Thursday to resolve issues amicably and enhance confidence within the party ranks,” a PPP leader said on condition of anonymity.
Makdoom Amin Fahim arrived Zardari House at 08 pm and after the meeting left the House without talking to media.
Makhdoom Amin later talking to some private TV channels said he is still a strong candidate for the premiership and there are no differences between the party leadership on the issue of nomination of premiership candidate.
“I am President of the winning PPPP, if Asif Ali Zardari wants to be PM then he should tell me, I would nominate him,” Fahim said in reply to a question.
He said his meeting with Asif Ali Zardari was held in a good atmosphere and he also had dinner at Zardari House.
“The meeting was a routine matter and we often meet each other and have dinners,” he said.
