Chennai, March 13 (IANS) In order to cash in on the booming Indian telecom solutions market, the $100 million turnover Tadiran Telecom Limited of Israel is expanding in this country and focussing on the small and medium enterprises (SME) market for its internet telephony products.
“We are bullish on this segment as it shows maximum potential for business growth. SMEs have to cut their operational costs to compete with bigger players in a globalised environment,” Asaf Yishay, director, regional sales and marketing, told IANS here.
Tadiran is gearing up to sell its Coral IPx Office and Coral Navigator products to the SME segment.
“Coral IPx is a communications solution in a slim box that enables converged system with unified messaging facility. On the other hand, Coral Navigator is a desktop management tool,” Yishay said.
The company is banking on its two channel partners HCL Infosystems and BPL Telecom to enter the SME segment.
A known name among large organisations, Tadiran found it a challenge to penetrate the SME segment that cannot afford a separate telecom manager and hence the tie up with two channel partners.
In south India, the company is focussing on SMEs located in Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore, where there is a large concentration of information technology companies.
Ruling out any more addition to its channel partners list, Yishay said: “India is one of the top five markets for the company, the other four being USA, Russia, China and home country Israel.”
Claiming organisations like Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Indian Railways and others as customers, Yishay was cagey about sharing any financial numbers about the Indian operations.
In India, the company imports the telecom hardware products from Israel to sell them through its two distributors.
“If the market offers us sufficient volumes then we can set up a manufacturing facility in India,” he added.
He said the group company Tadiran Communications caters to the communication needs of Indian armed forces.
