Postal department registers 3,188 cases of fraud

New Delhi : The postal department has registered 3,188 cases of fraud involving Rs.1.53 billion ($37.82 million) under various saving schemes at post offices across the country, Minister of State For Communication and IT Shakeel Ahmad told the Rajya Sabha Thursday.

The fraud was committed by the Standardised Agency System (SAS) agents, Mahila Pradhan Kshetriya Bachat Yojna (MPKPY) agents and outsiders, said the minister.

All these cases have been investigated and reported to the police or the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and action has been taken against the officials involved, Ahmad added.
