Washington : The United States is skeptical strongly about the fairness of Iran’s parliamentary elections that began on Friday, claiming any outcome of the vote would be “cooked.”
“In essence the results are cooked,” State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said Friday of the poll. “They are cooked in the sense that the Iranian people were not able to vote for a full range of people.”
McCormack made the allegation days before Iran makes an official announcement about the elections.
The results of the parliamentary elections will be announced in3 to 4 days, according to Iran’s Interior Minister Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi.
The relations between the United States and Iran have remained tense for decades. The two countries have no diplomatic relations since 1980.
