Islamabad : Pakistan will spell out its action plan to curb terrorism under the policy guidelines of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani, an interior ministry spokesman said here Tuesday.
Javed Iqbal Cheema said the new government would soon unveil its programme to deal with the serious problems confronting the country including the fight against extremism and terrorism.
“The prime minister would give details of the government’s immediate agenda after obtaining vote of confidence from the National Assembly (lower house of parliament),” Cheema said.
Gillani from Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was elected as Pakistan’s prime minister Monday.
Following the oath of office and secrecy administered to Gillani by President Pervez Musharraf earlier Tuesday, the new prime minister said he would announce a 100-day programme soon after taking the vote of confidence within 60 days.
Gillani also stressed that all forces need to join hands to take the country out of its current crises.
Meanwhile Musharraf reiterated his full support to the new government, and urged cooperation in fighting terrorism.
“I will extend my full support to him, always,” Musharraf told reporters when asked about his role in the new government.
“All the political forces in the country needed to work together to confront the threats of extremism and terrorism looming ahead,” the News Network International (NNI) reported.
