Damascus : Experts from the 22 Arab League member countries started to draw up the political agenda for the 20th summit of this group to be held on March 29 and 30 in this capital, while they analyze economic and social issues of that community.
The debate of the so-called Arab Peace Initiative and the cause of the Palestinian people will focus part of the meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as topics on youth and the defense of the Arab culture and language.
The 20th Summit of the Arab League in Damascus will also discuss historical problems, such as the need of a joint work of the member countries in the economic and political fields, and the situation in Iraq after the US invasion.
Other important topics include the Syrian demand to Israel for the return of the Golan Heights, occupied since 1967, and the categorical rejection to the US unilateral sanctions against Damascus.
Regarding the political agenda, which according to observers will focus on the Lebanon situation, the Syrian permanent delegate to the Arab League, Yousef al-Ahmad, revealed the content of a letter sent by Beirut authorities to that organization.
The Lebanese refrained from attending expert discussions and requested that their internal crisis be debated only at ministerial level.
