Brazilian Prime Minister of Industrial Development and Foreign Trade Miguel Jorge and his Indian counterpart Kamal Nath arrived at those agreements during his visit along with other officials and business executives that will conclude on Friday.

During the welcoming ceremony Nath stressed that India realized the importance and potential of its relations with Latin America and the Caribbean and for that reason began a special program called FOCUS LAC aimed at boosting economic links.

He added in the last few years Brazil has become India’s main economic commercial partner in Latin America with an exchange rate of 3,120 billion dollars in 2007, which was only 488 million seven years ago.

Nath reiterated that Brazil and India have proved their determination to reformulate the big questions that affect foreign policy and trade worldwide and also urged to continue close collaboration with UN, the World Trade Organization and the rest of the international forums in issues like social welfare, health, economic sustainable development and struggle to poverty.
