Islamabad : Provincial assembly in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution calling for an immediate end to military operation in the province.
The resolution, adopted in the first session of the Balochistan assembly, also called for the early release of political prisoners and rehabilitation of internally displaced people in the province.
The Assembly also passed another resolution calling for a United Nations probe into assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
In another unanimous resolution demanded establishment of a judicial commission to inquiry into the killings of tribal leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti and Balach Marri.
Bugti was killed in a military operation in August 2006 while Balach Mari was killed mysteriously in November last year in Afghanistan. Mari was the head of the banned Baloch Liberation Army.
The assembly, through a resolution, called for UN-led probe into deaths of the two tribal leaders.
The assembly voiced deep anguish over the publication of blasphemous caricatures in Denmark.
A resolution passed in this connection demanded that Danish ambassador be sent back to Denmark and the federal government announce boycott of Danish products.
Earlier, newly elected 62 members out of 65 took oath.
