After the cabinet meeting, Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal told reporters that the agreements with Mexico and Chile would not only help maintain air ties with India but also strengthen economic cooperation.

With the signing and approval of the agreements, India, Mexico and Chile will have the right to designate airlines according to available capacity.

In August last year, India had entered into bilateral civil aviation consultations with Mexico and Chile.
