Al-Maliki instantly issued a curfew and urged security and military forces to be alert for any possible unrest in Al-Najaf governorate, after, according to Sadrist Parliamentarian Saleh Al-Okaili, unidentified insurgents were spotted in a drive-by shooting, which left Al-Maliki dead.
Al-Okaili added in his statement, that the Sadr movement will not react to the incident, yet will be in mourning over the victim for three days.
