Yemen to seek IAEA assistance

Sana’a : Yemen will ask the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for technical assistance for implementing projects in areas such as agriculture, medicine, nuclear security and safety and the scientific research at a cost of $ 2 million.

The request would be made at the next round of the IAEA, 2009-2011.

Heading for Austria to meet officials at the IAEA, minister of Electricity and Energy Mustapha Bahran said he will discuss with the officials the IAEA support to be provided for the project of the
Aden-based Cancer Center and nuclear medicine at a cost of $ 105 million.

He said the agency is to prepare the center with necessary equipment and technology as well as training the center’s officials.

Bahran also said that he will talk to the IAEA officials the about supporting the implementation of the final phase of Brachytherapy and BACT projects for treating cancer-affected persons and
restricting.
