Isabel Peron Vs Extradition to Argentina

Madrid : Argentinean ex President Maria Estela Martinez went to court where a Spanish Judge is to rule on a petition to extradite her to Argentina.

At Monday’s hearing, the attorney reminded his client’s Spanish nationality and deteriorated health to avoid extradition.

Isabel Peron, 77, is currently charged for the disappearance of several people by the Triple-A (Argentinean Anti-Communist Alliance) when she replaced her late husband Juan Domingo Peron in 1974. She was toppled by a military coup on March 1976.

There is also the illegal detention and torture of Argentineans Hector Aldo Fagetti, disappeared February 1976, and child Jorge Valentin Beton.

Isabel Peron, who lives in Spain since 1981, is under parole since January 2007, following her arrest at her home in Madrid.
