Ranchi : At least 16 people were injured when bombs were hurled at a procession held during the Hindu festival of Ramnavami in Jharkhand’s Ranchi district, the police said Tuesday.
Residents of Urguttu village in Pithoria block, around 60 km from the state capital here, took out a Ramnavami procession Monday night.
Nine bombs were hurled at the procession while it was passing through an area said to be dominated by members of another community, though only three of them exploded. Sixteen people, including four children, were injured in the blasts.
The victims have been admitted to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) here. Four of then are reportedly in critical condition.
Tension prevailed in the area Tuesday and the paramilitary Rapid Action Force (RAF) has been deployed in the village.
