At least three German construction companies are taking part in the four-day gathering of local and international executives and officials charged with implementing reconstruction projects, said Mohammad Ziyadat, managing director of EXPO Jordan, the organizing firm.

“This year’s expo, the fourth to be held in Jordan, focuses on items and materials used in construction, energy and security spheres,” Ziyadat said.

“We believe that contracts signed during this event stand a better chance of being implemented, given the improved security inside Iraq,” he said.

Lack of protection had been the stumbling block to the implementation of about $600 million worth of deals that were concluded during previous exhibitions, Ziyadat said.
