New Delhi : A court Wednesday framed charges against former Delhi Development Authority (DDA) vice chairman Subhash Sharma for allowing a lift to be installed illegally in a commercial complex here.
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge I.K. Kochhar framed the charges against Sharma as well as four others: Dharambir Khattar, Ved Prakash Kaushik, Pradeep Kapoor and Anil Wadhwa.
Sharma and the others have been booked under sections 7, 8 and 13 (1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code. The next date of hearing is July 21.
The CBI unearthed the scam in 2003 and filed four corruption cases in which several prominent people, including then Delhi High Court sitting judge Shamit Mukherjee, were involved.
The agency, which was keeping a tab on the alleged links of the judge with some middlemen and government officials, intercepted 25 calls of the accused authorising the installation of the unauthorised lift at Mahavira Tower complex at Pashchim Vihar in west Delhi.
The CBI filed the chargesheet in the case in July 2004.
