Ankara : The Turkish Army Wednesday admitted new air raids in northern Iraq, as part of its offensive against alleged targets of the illegal Kurdistan Workers Party, PKK.
A report published on Wednesday says that Turkish warplanes bombed rebels on the border on Tuesday and at least one soldier died during the military operation in the south of this country.
According to military sources, the Army seized a great quantity of weapons and munitions in an attack on a PKK armed group when it tried to enter the Turkish territory.
Turkish troops invaded north Iraq in mid February in a bid to end with the main bases of the PKK guerrilla, founded in 1973 in favor of the Kurdish autonomy.
The Kurdistan autonomous government has been condemning the Turkish bombings and blames the US government for supporting Turkey in what it considers a violation of Iraqi sovereignty.
